Bulls Must Trade Josh Giddey As Part of Team's Rebuild Amid NBA Rumors

Erik BeastonMay 10, 2026

Josh Giddey had a career highs in minutes (32.1), points (17), rebounds (8.3), and assists (9.1) for the Chicago Bulls this season but amid the introduction of Bryson Graham as the new Executive Vice President of the organization and a clear rebuild, he could be on the trade block this offseason.

Clutch Points' Brett Siegel appeared on Clutch Points and speculated on the point guard's future with the team (4:10):

"Graham laid out in his press conference that he wants hard-nosed guys, can play on both ends of the court, athletic length. Those are the type of players that they're going to be targeting moving forward. And quite honestly, when you look at this roster right now, there aren't many of those guys outside of Noah Essengue and Matas Buzelis. So it draws major questions about where Josh Giddey fits in with the future of this organization."

Despite his growth as a player and face of the franchise, Giddey does not fit the mold of Graham's Bulls team of the future.

With the team undergoing what feels like an infinite rebuild after the Michael Jordan dynasty years, the last thing that the new EVP needs to concern himself with is shoehorning Giddey into style.

Instead, he can find a trade partner for Giddey and get in return pieces that help with the rebuild, whether it be players or draft picks.

His $25 million cap hit might be tough to navigate, but there should be plenty of teams excited at the prospect of adding a 23-year-old on an upward trajectory and playing the best ball of his young career.

The alternative is to force him into a situation that neither the team nor player will benefit from, and deal with media discussions about poor chemistry and inevitable trades, when that could have been handled from the start.
