New Jaylen Brown Rumors on Celtics Relationship After Trending Live Stream Videos, Comments
The Boston Celtics were considered a "team to watch" in trade rumors when it came to Giannis Antetokounmpo, per The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm, even before Jaylen Brown's curious public comments over the past week sparked curiosity about his future with the organization.
But the efforts to tamp down that sort of talk have already begun in earnest.
As Amick and Nehm reported, "Then came the comments from Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, who said that Brown was experiencing frustration that 'lies deeply in the organization' on a podcast with his cousin and fellow Hall of Famer, Vince Carter. Yet there has been significant pushback on this growing narrative ever since, with Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens telling reporters on Wednesday that he has no knowledge of Brown being frustrated and Brown saying, 'If it was up to me, I could play in Boston the next 10 years.' A team source reiterated as much, indicating that there were no internal issues between the two sides. A league source close to Brown shared a similar message."
Even if the Bucks were willing to do a Giannis-for-Brown swap, it's questionable whether Boston would bite.
Brown is two years younger (29) and is coming off an MVP-esque campaign (28.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 5.1 APG). He's already proven capable of winning a title paired with Jayson Tatum.
Granted, it's a different matter if Brown is no longer happy in Boston. But for now, it appears that narrative is being walked back.
