Jets' Updated Salary Cap, Depth Chart After Breece Hall's Reported $45.7M Contract

Julia StumbaughMay 8, 2026

The New York Jets are making Breece Hall one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.

Hall and the Jets agreed Friday to a three-year, $45.75 million extension, his agent Nicole Lynn told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Jets now have their RB1 and WR1 locked in for the near future after extending Garrett Wilson last July.

Hall was previously given a $14.3 million franchise tag in March. He would have played on a one-year deal at that cap hit had he and the team not agreed to an extension.

The Jets had $39.6 million in cap space remaining in 2026 cap space heading into Friday, per Over the Cap.

Hall's contract includes $29 million in guaranteed money. According to SNY's Connor Hughes, there is no guaranteed money in the third year, essentially making the contract a two-year deal with an average annual value of $14.5 million.

The Jets had the fifth-most cap space in the NFL heading into the weekend, per Over the Cap. The team is likely to stay in that position when taking Hall's new contract into consideration.

Over the Cap also projected that the Jets would have just under $140 million in effective cap space for 2027, second only to the Arizona Cardinals for the most in the NFL.

That will give the Jets plenty of roster flexibility going forward as the team prepares to potentially add a new quarterback ahead of the 2027 season. The franchise is currently heading into 2026 with Geno Smith on an expiring contract.

The Jets also made what could end up being longer-term additions to the offense by selecting a No. 2 wide receiver (Omar Cooper Jr.) and top tight end (Kenyon Sadiq) in a 2026 NFL draft that earned the franchise an A-minus on B/R NFL scouts' post-draft grades.

In addition to 2025 second-rounder Mason Taylor as a potential backup to Sadiq and AD Mitchell to work behind Wilson and Cooper, the Jets now have all of their top offensive position players signed past 2026. That could create a strong setup for a rookie signal caller should the franchise ultimately target a quarterback in the 2027 NFL draft.

Hall recorded a career-high 1,065 rushing yards while adding four touchdowns in 16 games as a bright spot in a struggling Jets offense last season. He will now head into his fifth NFL campaign as the league's third-highest paid running back in terms of annual salary behind Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey.
