Brandon Ingram Injury Update Provided by Raptors After Surgery, Latest Timeline for 2026 NBA Season
The Toronto Raptors announced Friday that star forward Brandon Ingram underwent surgery to remove a heel spur.
The team is expecting to have him back in training camp this fall ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
Ingram was sidelined for the Raptors' final two games in their first-round playoff loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite not having one of its best players, Toronto won Game 6 and stayed competitive in the first half of Game 7 before it ran out of steam.
The 28-year-old was an All-Star in his first full season north of the border. He averaged 21.5 points on 47.7 percent shooting along with 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
So far, Ingram has justified the $120 million extension he signed shortly after his 2025 trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. He's likely to remain a key figure as the front office considers moves to improve the squad.
Granted, Ingram's performance against the Cavs (12.0 points on 32.8 percent shooting) reinforced the skeptics who have questioned whether he's a winning player when it matters.
The recovery timeline for Ingram's surgery is beneficial for Toronto beyond the fact he should be there on opening night. His trade market shouldn't be impacted in the event the idea merits serious deliberation.
