Anfernee Simons Reportedly Lands 76ers Contract, Full Details Revealed After Jaylen Brown Trade

Paul KasabianJul 2, 2026

Free agent shooting guard Anfernee Simons has reportedly agreed to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $12.3 million with a player option for the second season, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

"Simons chose the 76ers over other suitors believing his fit is perfect with the revamped 76ers roster," Charania wrote.

This gives Philadelphia yet another playmaker, and a key bench scoring option, after it acquired Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics via trade.

The 27-year-old Simons, a former IMG Academy star, went 24th overall in the 2018 NBA draft to the Portland Trail Blazers. He played seven seasons in Portland and was a full-time starter over his last three campaigns (2022-23 to 2024-25), averaging 20.7 points (43.4 percent shooting) and 4.7 assists per game.

On Feb. 5, 2026, the Celtics traded Simons and a 2026 second-round pick to the Chicago Bulls for center Nikola Vučević and a 2027 second-rounder.

Simons only played six games for Chicago after he suffered an aggravation of a previous left wrist fracture, ending his season prematurely. His four-year, $100 million contract extension expired after the 2025-26 campaign.

For the season, Simons averaged 14.3 points on 44.0 percent shooting (38.5 percent from three), 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Simons is becoming well-traveled as he joins his fourth team in three seasons. With the Sixers, he should have plenty of opportunities to provide scoring punch in a loaded backcourt that also features Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe and rookie Labaron Philon Jr.
