Jalen Brunson, Knicks Take 2-0 Series Lead vs. 76ers Without Joel Embiid as Fans React to Game 2 Win
The New York Knicks have a comfortable 2-0 edge over the Philadelphia 76ers after handiling business in Game 2 on Wednesday.
The Knicks downed the Sixers 108-102 at home to get one step closer to reaching the conference finals in consecutive years.
The Sixers were without the injured Joel Embiid on Wednesday, and his absence was noticeable. Tyrese Maxey managed to keep the Philadelphia in it until the very end, as the two sides traded baskets all night.
Ultimately, his 26 points weren't enough. It puts the 76ers in a rough position moving forward.
Knicks fans, on the other hand, had plenty to celebrate after taking a commanding lead over the 76ers.
Jalen Brunson led the way for New York, posting 26 points and six assists. Karl-Anthony Towns also put together a solid game with 20 points, 10 boards and seven assists.
OG Anunoby added 24 points, five boards and four steals, though he wasn't in the game or on the bench during the final stretch.
It's unclear whether he was dealing with an injury or if Mike Brown just wanted to go with a different group to close things out. Obviously, an injury of any kind to Anunoby would be a huge loss for the Knicks.
The Sixers knew things would be tough without Embiid, and they can only hope their star is able to suit up in Game 3. If not, Philadelphia could be looking at a daunting 3-0 deficit.
