Jaylen Brown Defends Viral Comments, Addresses Rumors About Celtics Future During Live Stream Video
There has been no shortage of discourse surrounding Jaylen Brown since the Boston Celtics lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, and the star forward addressed multiple topics during another live stream on Wednesday.
"I hate that our president of basketball operations even had to respond to this," he said of Brad Stevens. "Me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston. If it was up to me I could play here for the next 10 years."

T-Mac: Jaylen Frustrated with Celtics

Stevens spoke to reporters Wednesday and said he had a conversation with Brown that was "nothing but positive," adding "he has not expressed those frustrations to me."
The comments were notable because Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady said on his Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady podcast there is some "frustration" from Brown toward the Celtics.
"I think his frustration lies deeply within the organization and other things that we don't really have the details to," McGrady said. "There's just been a lot of stuff that I've been hearing just going on with the Boston organization, with JB."
In the latest live stream, Brown also said, "I stand on this again. ⦠This was my favorite season of my career. I will say it even louder. I'll stand on it. I'll triple down, quadruple down."
That was in response to his previous comments suggesting this was his favorite season in the NBA even though Boston lost in the first round.
It certainly turned some heads when Brown said this was his favorite season. After all, he was the 2024 NBA Finals MVP when he helped lead the Celtics to the championship. What's more, Jayson Tatum was sidelined for much of the 2025-26 campaign as he recovered from a torn Achilles.
Some could speculate Brown getting to play the role of go-to option while Tatum was out is what contributed to his love for this past season, but he provided context to those comments Wednesday.
Expectations were low for the Celtics coming into the season after they parted ways with Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps PorziÅÄ£is in addition to Tatum's injury. Yet they surprised all the way to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with Brown leading the way.
"The expectations were for this team to fail," Brown said Wednesday. "The expectations were for this team to be nothing, for us to give in and to quit. And this team did the exact opposite. We fought every single day. I got to see Jayson Tatum come back from an injury and mentally overcome with what that takes.
"This is a part of the reason why this was my favorite year. You got to see all these guys, all my teammates, grow. I got to see them overcome adversity as a group."
Brown was a major reason the Celtics were able to overcome adversity, as he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from deep. It was a brilliant individual season, and he will surely be rewarded with an All-NBA selection.
Brown's previous comments also cost him some money.
The NBA announced Tuesday it fined him $50,000 after he publicly criticized officials on his livestream after Boston's Game 7 loss to the 76ers.
"They clearly had an agenda," he said. "Maybe because I spoke and was critical of refs in the regular season. So they responded, 'You're gonna lead the playoffs in offensive fouls.' That's how that was, the response from the officiating crew. You could clearly tell.
"And I've actually spoke to some refs, and they said it was an agenda going into each game. 'So anytime Jaylen brings his arm up, just from reputation, just call it.'"
On Wednesday, he said the fine was "worth it" before adding he is "moving on."
While he could do nothing about the fine, Brown addressed the various topics that came up during his previous comments and provided more context to the situations.
