
'We Were Ass,' Marcus Smart Reacts to Lakers' Game 1 Loss to SGA, Thunder in NBA Playoffs
Los Angeles Lakers guard Marcus Smart wasn't interested in placing any blame on head coach JJ Redick following the team's 108-90 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.
"JJ's been nice; we were ass," Smart said after the loss, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder took a 1-0 series lead with a strong second-half performance defensively, outscoring the Lakers 47-37 over the final two quarters of action.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 18 points, six assists, three rebounds and two blocks while shooting 8-of-15 from the field.
As for the Lakers, they shot just 41.7 percent on field goals and committed 18 turnovers as a team in the loss.
Smart scored 12 points and dished out seven assists while picking up four steals, but shot just 4-of-15 from the field and 2-of-8 from three-point territory.
Los Angeles will look to bounce back in Game 2 on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
