The NBA fined Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown $50,000 for "public criticism of the officiating," the league announced Tuesday.

Following the Celtics' seven-game series loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, Brown called out the officiating in a Twitch stream on Monday.

"If I had to say there's some referees that need to be investigatedโ€ฆ We had three of them in the last three games," Brown said.

The five-time All-Star also discussed his relationship with officials.

"They clearly had an agenda," Brown said on the stream, viaย Devon Hendersonย of The Athletic. "Maybe because I spoke and was critical of refs in the regular season. So they responded, 'You're gonna lead the playoffs in offensive fouls.' That's how that was, the response from the officiating crew. You could clearly tell.

"And I've actually spoke to some refs, and they said it was an agenda going into each game. 'So anytime Jaylen brings his arm up, just from reputation, just call it.'"

Brown averaged 25.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three-point territory against the 76ers.

The Celtics built a 3-1 lead over Philadelphia, but lost the final three games of the series to suffer their earliest playoff elimination since 2021.

Boston was previously 32-0 when holding a 3-1 series lead (h/t ESPN'sย Tim Bontemps).

As for Brown, his overall 2025-26 campaign was admirable. He stepped into the role of Boston's No. 1 scorer with Jayson Tatum recovering from a torn Achilles for most of the season and thrived, helping the team finish with a 56-26 record.

Brown averaged a career-high 28.7 points and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 47.7 percent on field goals, 34.7 percent on triples and 79.5 percent on free throws.
