Anthony Edwards Gives Harsh Assessment Of His Play Despite Wolves' Win vs. Spurs in Injury Return
Nobody expected Anthony Edwards to return from a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise just nine days after suffering those injuries, but the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar did just that on Monday night.
Ultimately, he scored 18 points in 25 minutes off the bench as the Wolves stole homecourt advantage from the San Antonio Spurs, winning Game 1 of their Western Conference Semifinals matchup, 104-102. But Edwards was more focused on his mistakes than his positive contributions.
"I made so many mistakes at the end of the game," he said after the win. "I'm disappointed in myself. ... For me, 75 percent of the game is my mind. My mind's got to be where it needs to be. In the last two minutes of the game it wasn't. I gave up two offensive rebounds, turned the ball over. Yeah, I'll be better."
Winning on the road with Edwards clearly less than 100 percent was a very good sign for the Wolves. It was a far more ominous one for the Spurs.
Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).
