
Wolves Beat Record-Breaking Wemby, Spurs in Anthony Edwards' Injury Return as Fans React to Game 1
Anthony Edwards powered the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 104-102 Game 1 win over Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Monday in his return, despite Wembanyama's 12 blocks.
Edwards scored 18 points as Minnesota took Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
The Timberwolves star returned from a knee hyperextension and bone bruise suffered in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, which Minnesota won 4-2.
In addition to 18 points, Edwards added three rebounds and three assists. Julius Randle grabbed 21 rebounds and 10 rebounds while Jaden McDaniels finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Terrance Shannon Jr. provided a spark with 16 points and five rebounds.
San Antonio's Wembanyama had a quiet offensive outing, finishing with 11 points but dominated defensively with 15 rebounds and a historic 12 blocks.
Minnesota is looking to return to the Western Conference finals for a third straight year as it faces the Spurs.
