Latest NBA Rumors on David Adelman's Job Security After Nuggets' Upset Loss to Wolves in Playoffs

The Denver Nuggets reportedly aren't expected to fire head coach David Adelman following an upset loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.

The "immediate sense" within the Nuggets organization is that Adelman will be back for another season, according to Bennett Durando of the Denver Post (h/t HoopsHype).

Denver finished with a 54-28 record this season, advancing to the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference before falling to the No. 6 Timberwolves in six games.

It represented the Nuggets' earliest postseason exit since 2022.

Still, it's worth noting that Denver dealt with injuries to key players throughout its 2025-26 campaign. Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson, Peyton Watson and Christian Braun all failed to appear in at least 60 contests.

Nuggets star Nikola Jokić also suited up in a career-low 65 games.

Denver's ability to finish near the top of the West standings while navigating through the health woes was admirable, but its first-round defeat at the hands of Minnesota was disappointing.

The Nuggets went down 3-1 in the series before dropping a Game 6 matchup in which the Timberwolves were missing several contributors including Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo, Ayo Dosunmu and Kyle Anderson due to injuries.

As Denver now begins preparing for the offseason, Adelman's job appears to be safe.
