James and the Lakers are looking to put the series to rest in Game 5 on Wednesday after jumping out to a 3-1 lead. Los Angeles knew the first-round series would be tough without Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves, but James has managed to put the team on his back for the most part.
The 41-year-old has put up 21.5 points, 8.8 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game through the first four games, though he struggled in a Game 4 loss when he had just 10 points.
Luckily for the Lakers, Reaves will return to action on Wednesday.
The first-round series has been made a bit easier for the Lakers with Rockets star Kevin Durant currently sidelined. Durant has played just one game while dealing with knee and ankle injuries, and he won't play on Wednesday.
A win for the Lakers on Wednesday would give them their first playoff series win in two years after they faced back-to-back first-round exits. They would face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round after they swept the Phoenix Suns in the first round.
The question all basketball fans are wondering is whether James is in his final season. While he's given no indication that he's retiring, there's always a chance he decides to call it a career.
By giving him the unique jersey patch, it seems the Lakers are hoping to honor him in case he does hang it up.
