For the first time since 2017, the San Antonio Spurs are on their way to the Western Conference Semifinals.

The Spurs downed the Portland Trail Blazers 114-95 on Tuesday to close out the series in five games, getting one step closer to successfully completing their rebound centered around Victor Wembanyama. They'll now face either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Denver Nuggets.

San Antonio was in control for most of the game, but Portland managed to trim a 20-plus point lead down to single digits halfway through the fourth quarter. Luckily for the Spurs, a phenomenal fourth quarter from De'Aaron Fox helped them hold off the Blazers' run.

Fox finished with 21 points and nine assists, while Wembanyama posted 17 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.

After the first-round win over Portland, fans hyped the Spurs on social media.

The Spurs' rise to contention behind Wembanyama was more of a question of when than if, and it's clear they're ready to play for a championship now after the gentlemen's sweep of the Blazers.

Portland's season may have ended in the first round, but the Trail Blazers still had a commendable year, making the playoffs despite various injuries and having to adapt to a new head coach early in the season.

Portland will certainly be a team to watch in the future with Deni Avdija leading the way.
