Dillon Brooks Responds to SGA's Cancun Photo Troll, Updates Instagram Bio After Thunder Sweep Suns
After Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander trolled Dillon Brooks after sweeping the Phoenix Suns, Brooks responded on social media.
Gilgeous-Alexander wrote in his caption, "everybody wants to be villainous until the brooms come out." Brooks responded with "Sounds like a ghost writer - The Villain." He also changed his Instagram bio to read "Villain or vigilante?"
While Brooks and SGA jokingly feuded online after the Thunder dominated the Suns in the first round, there's nothing but love between the two, who play together for the Canadian national team.
After Monday's win, Gilgeous-Alexander said that Brooks' "villain" reputation isn't a true reflection of who he is.
"It was just respect," Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters. "Knowing Dillon, he's a great competitor, great guy. No matter what people say about him, he's a really good guy when you get to know him. All that villain stuff, it doesn't faze me. I know exactly who Dillon is. He had a hell of a series. Keep getting better, I'm proud of him."
The mutual respect didn't stop tensions from getting high during the series, though. After Game 2, Brooks called out the way Gilgeous-Alexander is officiated and called him "a little frail."
"This is the playoffs, a man's game," Brooks said. "I used to watch this back when Michael Jordan was playing … when LeBron was younger, just physical basketball. I don't get why all the dropping, the falling and the flopping and flailing and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs. Leave that for the [regular] season for the fans. This is about who's the better team, who's a more with-it team. Don't decide the games on no free throws."
Brooks had the best season of his career and an outstanding series against the Thunder that included a pair of 30-point games, but SGA and the Thunder ultimately got the last laugh as they look to defend their title.
