Gilgeous-Alexander praised Brooks after Brooks scored 23 points for the Suns in Monday's 131-122 elimination loss.

Brooks had promised to match up with Gilgeous-Alexander in Game 4.

"He's efficient. And I got him Game 4," Brooks told reporters.

Gilgeous-Alexander ultimately went 3-for-4 for six points from the field in the 8:44 he spent covered by Brooks, although the Thunder put up 45 points over that same span.

Brooks and Gilgeous-Alexander embraced on the court after the Thunder's win.

"Just mutual respect," Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters after the game. "Ultimate competitor. Had a hell of a series. I'm happy. He played well, and we won, so it's perfect."

Gilgeous-Alexander and Brooks have both played internationally for Team Canada, helping lead the team to its first global medal since 1936 with a bronze medal in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

The two were teammates again at the 2024 Paris Olympics, from which Canada bowed out with a quarterfinal loss to France.

Brooks and the Suns are now the first team to be eliminated from the NBA 2026 playoffs, while Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder will continue their title defense by advancing to the second round.

The Thunder will next face either the Los Angeles Lakers, who won the first three games of their first-round series, or the Houston Rockets, who staved off elimination Sunday with a Game 4 victory.

The Rockets will need to win again to extend the series when Game 5 tips off on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
