NBA Playoff Bracket 2026, Updated Picture, Schedule After Spurs Advance and Knicks, 76ers Win

The first round of the 2026 NBA playoffs featured a trio of Game 5 clashes on Tuesday.

The slate opened with a matchup between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, as the Celtics were looking to advance to the second round after taking a 3-1 series lead.

Here's a look at Tuesday's results as well as Wednesday's playoff schedule.

Philadelphia 76ers 113, Boston Celtics 97 (Celtics lead series 3-2)

Tuesday Highlights

76ers 113, Celtics 97

Philadelphia opened the game with a quick 10-4 lead, but Boston bounced back and ended up holding a 23-21 edge at the end of the first quarter.

The Celtics pushed their advantage to double digits early in the second, later owning a 57-50 lead at halftime.

Boston led by 13 points early in the third quarter, although the 76ers immediately responded with a 15-3 run to cut the deficit to one point.

Philadelphia kept its season alive with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Celtics 28-11 over the final 12 minutes of game time.

Joel Embiid thrived in the win, scoring 33 points and dishing out eight assists while shooting 12-of-23 from the field.

Tyrese Maxey also stepped up for the 76ers, finishing with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Maxey grabbed 10 rebounds as well.

Knicks 126, Hawks 97

The Knicks only led 15-14 with just over five minutes left in the first quarter, although they closed the period on a 20-8 run to take a 13-point lead into the second.

New York held a double-digit edge throughout the entire second quarter, as Atlanta struggled defensively.

The Knicks led 64-48 at the half.

New York didn't slow down throughout the final two quarters of play, leading by as many as 32 points and cruising to the win.

Knicks star Jalen Brunson bounced back from his struggles earlier in the playoffs by finishing with 39 points, eight assists and three rebounds. Brunson shot 15-of-23 from the field, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc.

New York will now look to close out the series in Atlanta after initially trailing the Hawks 2-1 through three games.

Spurs 114, Trail Blazers 95

The Spurs set the tone early in the final game of the day, opening up a 10-point lead less than three minutes into the first quarter and holding a 36-24 edge heading into the second.

San Antonio didn't show many signs of slowing down throughout the rest of the first half, as it took a 65-45 halftime lead.

While the Trail Blazers climbed back to cut the deficit to just nine points with under six minutes left in the fourth quarter, they weren't able to get any closer before the game came to an end.

San Antonio won with a balanced offensive performance, as six different players scored at least 10 points.

Spurs star Victor Wembanyama ended the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks and three assists. Wembanyama shot 71.4 percent from the field and connected on one of his two long-range attempts.

With the win, San Antonio clinched its first playoff series victory since 2017.
