MVP SGA Hyped by Devin Booker in New Video After Thunder Sweep Suns in 2026 NBA Playoffs
After Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder ended the Phoenix Suns' season with a 131-122 victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference playoffs on Monday, Devin Booker had nothing but praise for the reigning NBA MVP.
Speaking to reporters following the game, Booker called Gilgeous-Alexander the "MVP of the league" and hyped him up for "playing the best basketball in the league for the past two years."
Gilgeous-Alexander, who is widely expected to win his second straight MVP award, finished Game 4 with 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting and eight assists in 38 minutes.
This was his third straight game in the series that Gilgeous-Alexander shot over 50 percent from the field after going 5-of-18 in Game 1. He has scored at least 20 points in 12 consecutive playoff games dating back to Game 4 of the 2025 Western Conference Finals.
The Thunder have now swept their first-round series in three consecutive seasons.
Gilgeous-Alexander is one of three finalists for the MVP award, along with Nikola Jokić and Victor Wembanyama. He finished second in the NBA in scoring average (31.1 points per game) in the regular season on 55.3 percent shooting and 6.6 assists per contest.
Jokić was the only other player in the league who averaged at least 25.0 points, 5.0 assists per game and shot better than 50 percent from the field.
The Thunder led the league in wins (64) and net rating (plus-11.1) in the regular season. Gilgeous-Alexander has been the driving force behind their success and has them eight wins away from getting back to the Finals for a second consecutive season.
If Gilgeous-Alexander wins the MVP, he will be the first player since Jokić in 2020-21 and 2021-22 to go back-to-back. He will also become just the 16th player in NBA history to win the award multiple times.
