Anthony Edwards, DiVincenzo Injured, Wolves Beat Nikola Jokic, Nuggets as Fans React to Game 4 Win

The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets 112-96 to take a 3-1 lead in their first-round NBA Playoff series on Saturday despite injuries to Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo.

Two key players went down for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as Edwards and DiVincenzo both exited.

DiVincenzo suffered a non-contact injury that resulted in a torn achilles, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Edwards went down after taking contact at the rim. Neither player returned after being sent to the locker room.

With just one more win needed to clinch the series, fans are eyeing a 4-1 finish for the Timberwolves in Denver.

Before exiting late in the second quarter, Edwards finished with five points and three rebounds in 18 minutes. Ayo Dosunmu erupted off the bench for 43 points on 13-of-17 shooting, stepping up in Edwards' absence. Julius Randle led the starters with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Despite a combined 54 points from Jokic and Jamal Murray—with Jokic posting a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds—the Nuggets could not secure the road win.

The Timberwolves are aiming to break through after back-to-back Western Conference Finals exits and first-round eliminations in the two years prior.

After a 4-1 loss to the Thunder last postseason, Minnesota could be on track for a rematch if both teams continue their current path, with OKC holding a 3-0 edge over the Phoenix Suns.

However, a potential absence of Edwards looms as a major concern.

The winner of the Nuggets-Timberwolves series will advance to face either the No. 2 San Antonio Spurs or the No. 7 Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference semifinals, with San Antonio leading 2-1.

Game 5 between Minnesota and the Denver Nuggets is set for Monday as the series shifts back to Denver.
