Jaden McDaniels Claps Back at David Adelman's 'Podcast' Comment amid T-Wolves-Nuggets Beef

Scott PolacekApr 23, 2026

The verbal back-and-forth in the first-round series between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves continued Thursday, and this time it was Jaden McDaniels' turn to respond.

McDaniels, who started the entire situation by calling Nikola Jokiฤ‡ and others on the Nuggets "bad defenders," responded to comments from Denver head coach David Adelman and made it clear podcasting is "not me."

The Timberwolves forward was the one who escalated the tension in the series in the first place after his team's Game 2 win when he said "they're all bad defenders" when discussing Jokiฤ‡, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Cam Johnson:

Naturally, that drew a response from Denver with Adelman dismissing the comments and adding, "I can't wait for his podcast" when talking about McDaniels:

Johnson was a bit more forceful in his comments when he said, "They've just been saying a lot. All season, all series. Let them talk. Let them get everything they want off their chest."

At this point, the momentum belongs to the Timberwolves. They overcame a 19-point deficit in Game 2 to steal one on the road and seize home-court advantage in the series. Anthony Edwards led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds, while McDaniels added 14 points in support.

Minnesota's crowd will surely be ready to go for Thursday's Game 3, and the entire situation with McDaniels means tensions could be elevated on the court as well.

Amid all the noise, it should be noted he wasn't wrong about Denver's defense. The team finished 21st in the league in defensive rating during the regular season, per NBA.com, which was lower than any other club to make the playoffs this season.

For as brilliant as Jokiฤ‡ is on the offensive side, he's never been known as a shutdown defender. The same can be said about many of his most notable teammates.

Still, the last thing players want to do during the playoffs is provide additional motivation and bulletin-board material, and McDaniels may have done just that with his comments.
