Karl-Anthony Towns Reveals His Diet, Meal Plan and Snacks Ahead of Knicks' Playoff Series vs. Hawks

Joseph ZuckerApr 18, 2026

He might be a six-time All-Star in the NBA who makes more than $50 million annually, but the average day in the life of the New York Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns isn't that glamorous.

That's particularly clear with Towns' dietary habits.

In an essay for Business Insider, KAT said he usually wakes up at 6 a.m. ET and has chicken bone broth along with coffee for breakfast. His lunches and dinners aren't any more adventurous.

"I have chicken as my protein, with some greens and veggies. I always like color on the plate," he said. "Carb-wise, I usually have sweet potatoes, cauliflower rice, or quinoa. During the season, when I need more carbs, I might have some white rice.

"Snacks in between lunch and dinner are usually unsalted almonds, a protein bar, and electrolytes."

Towns said he has come to find enjoyment from his diet, and he occasionally changes it up at the suggestion of fiancé Jordyn Woods.

Not all athletes are the same. Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo told GQ's Matthew Roberson that pastas are a game-day staple for him, and he'll occasionally have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich between shootaround and the opening tip.

Like Towns, two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash had a more spartan approach toward his meals.

The Knicks start their first-round series with the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday evening. Once their season ends, whenever that is, maybe KAT will feel free to indulge a bit before his focus shifts to preparing for next year.
