Updated NBA Rumors on Giannis Trade Timeline and Bucks' HC Search After Doc Rivers' Exit
There are "early indications" that Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst will remain in charge amid Doc Rivers' departure and Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors, NBA insider Jake Fischer wrote for The Stein Line on Substack.
According to Fischer, Horst has "already initiated outreach" in the search for Rivers' replacement after the former head coach stepped down from his position following the Bucks' 32-50 season.

Horst's candidate list includes Taylor Jenkins and Darvin Ham in addition to "a varied cross-section of names, archetypes and experience levels," according to Fischer.
Fischer had previously mentioned Jenkins as a candidate to coach Orlando Magic, who he has expressed belief will part ways with coach Jamahl Molsey this offseason despite their play-in tournament win earlier this week.
Fischer noted that how candidates evaluate the Bucks job will depend in large part on a potential trade of Antetokounmpo, and that the Bucks will likely not be able to shop Antetokounmpo in earnest until after the playoffs.
The return the Bucks get for Antetokounmpo could determine the franchise's short-term future, Fischer noted.
ESPN's Shams Charania previously reported the Heat offered the Bucks a package including Tyler Herro and Kel'el Ware, a player-heavy package that could potentially help the franchise retool.
The Bucks could enter more of a rebuilding stage with a offer like the one reportedly made by the Golden State Warriors, who wanted to send the Bucks a package including four unprotected first-rounders for Antetokounmpo, per ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
The Heat, Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves made bids for Antetokounmpo ahead of this season's trade deadline, per Charania. NBA writer Kirk Goldsberry recently reported he sees the Magic, Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks as other potential candidates for Antetokounmpo.
Which direction the Bucks ultimately take with Antetokounmpo this offseason could hinge on both whether Horst remains in charge and what these teams' outlook looks like after the NBA playoffs wrap up this summer.
