Chris Paul Trolls Clippers with Funeral Meme After NBA Play-In Loss to Warriors

Scott PolacekApr 16, 2026

Chris Paul may be arguably the greatest Los Angeles Clippers in franchise history, but he didn't seem to mind the team's 126-121 loss to the Golden State Warriors in Wednesday's Western Conference play-in tournament.

Paul took to social media and trolled his old team with a meme:

The game itself was incredible, as the Clippers built double-digit leads multiple times only to let Stephen Curry and the Warriors come back and seize control at the end. Al Horford dialed back the clock and drilled four three-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Curry connected on a three that put Golden State ahead for good in the final minute.

Curry finished with 35 points on 7-of-12 shooting from deep.

Draymond Green also played excellent defense down the stretch as the visitors held Kawhi Leonard to two points in the fourth. The Clippers' offense went missing in key moments and had no answer for the Curry and Horford combination.

Perhaps a veteran point guard to come in and settle things down amid the chaos would have helped.

Los Angeles had a veteran point guard earlier this season in Paul, but his time with the team came to an unceremonious end when it sent him home.

It also released a statement on Dec. 3 that called him a "legendary Clipper" while explaining the situation in part:

Yet ESPN's Shams Charania reported around the same time that Paul's "leadership style clashed with the Clippers" as he was "vocal in holding management, coaches and players accountable, which the team felt became disruptive."

According to Charania, the future Hall of Famer and head coach Tyronn Lue were also "not on speaking terms."

Paul told Jordan Greene of People in December he was "actually at peace with everything" despite the exit.

That may be the case, but he enjoyed some trolling Wednesday.
