Update on Dillon Brooks Suspension, Status for Suns Revenge Game vs. Kevin Durant, Rockets
Dillon Brooks will get the chance to go up against his former team on Tuesday after all.
The Phoenix Suns forward picked up what appeared to be his 18th technical foul of the season against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, which meant he was facing a suspension for the team's next game against the Houston Rockets, if the technical stood. However, the league rescinded the technical foul on Monday.
Players face a one-game suspension after receiving their 16th technical foul of the season. After exceeding 16 techs, players are suspended for another game for every two technical fouls.
Brooks leads the NBA this year with 17 technical fouls, followed by Luka Dončić of the Los Angeles Lakers with 16 and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors with 13.
A potential suspension would have come at a bad time for the Suns, as they're still fighting for playoff positioning with four games remaining. Phoenix is currently in seventh place in the West at 43-35, three and a half games back from the sixth-placed Minnesota Timberwolves.
Brooks is having a career year, putting up 20.5 points per game as the second-leading scorer behind Devin Booker.
With the technical rescinded, Brook will get the chance to take on the Rockets, who dealt him to Phoenix over the summer in return for Kevin Durant. Brooks and the Suns lost their previous three matchups against Houston this year.
