5-Star Brandon McCoy Jr. Commits to Michigan in 'Fab Five' Final Four Broadcast Video
Brandon McCoy Jr., a 5-star guard from Sierra Canyon High School, said Saturday that he is committing to Michigan.
McCoy is the No. 14 prospect overall in the Class of 2026, the No. 3 shooting guard and the No. 3 player from the state of California, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
Adam Finkelstein of the scouting site noted that McCoy has "evolved into one of the most physically imposing guards in the class" and is a "physically gifted guard who plays with a motor, imposes his will on the game on both ends of the floor, and has room for future growth with the progression of his shooting and total guard skills."
He added that McCoy is "one of the very best defenders in the class" and possesses a "combination of speed and power with the basketball that allows him to attack the rim violently in the open floor, " though his "total ball skills could tighten" and he's "trending as more of an off-ball guard right now, and while he can make some tough pull-ups, his ability to space the floor off the catch is a significant swing skill."
At 6'5" he has solid length, with a wingspan at nearly 6'10", and has began filling out that frame with muscle.
He will now be the prized jewel of a strong Michigan class, which already featured a trio of 4-star recruits in power forward Quinn Costello, shooting guard Joseph Hartman and small forward Lincoln Cosby.
Not too shabby for a Wolverines' team currently in the Final Four.
