7'9 Olivier Rioux to Enter Transfer Portal After Florida's Loss, What Are Top Landing Spots?

The tallest player in March Madness history is reportedly hitting the NCAA transfer portal.

Florida center Olivier Rioux plans to transfer after two seasons with the Gators, his agent Peter Yannopoulos told Field of 68's Jeff Goodman.

Rioux, who is listed at 7-foot-9, was a redshirt freshman during Florida's national championship win in 2025.

He saw limited minutes in 11 games during his sophomore campaign with the Gators, most recently appearing late in Florida's first-round NCAA Tournament blowout win over Prairie View A&M.

Rioux finished the season having totaled seven points, six rebounds and an assist in 16 minutes.

Now that the defending champions have been bounced from March Madness with a second-round loss to Iowa, here's a look at some top potential landing spots for Rioux ahead of his junior college season.

Purdue

Purdue v Arizona

Purdue coach Matt Painter has a recent history of developing tall players, most recently this season including 7-foot-4 sophomore center Daniel Jacobsen.

The Boilermakers could be looking to mix things up after Saturday's Elite Eight loss to No. 1 Arizona. If that's the case, Rioux could be an interesting developmental project for Painter as the center looks to get more playing time next season.

Florida Atlantic

Shriners Children's Charleston Classic

Florida Atlantic was one of three schools to make Rioux an offer before he committed to Florida ahead of the 2024-25 season, per 247Sports.

That was during John Jakus' first recruitment cycle after taking over for Dusty May in 2024.

FAU offered limited minutes to 7-foot-1 center Vincent Neugebauer last season, although Neugebauer still saw more playing time than Rioux. If Jakus is looking for another depth option at center, Rioux could potentially hope to get more playing time in Boca Raton.

Arizona State

Saint Mary's v Santa Clara

Randy Bennett could look to start out his tenure with Arizona State by bringing in an intriguing developmental project in Rioux.

The former Saint Mary's coach, who was hired as Bobby Hurley's replacement earlier this month, has a history of developing tall players and most recently led a team starring 7-foot-3 center Andrew McKeever.
