Michael Jordan Explain How Owning NASCAR Team Helps Him Compensate for Missing Basketball on Video

NBA icon Michael Jordan revealed that operating as an owner of NASCAR team 23XI Racing has helped make up for the absence of basketball in his life.

Jordan confirmed that part of him misses playing his former sport in a recent interview with CBS News' Gayle King.

"Oh yeah, 100 percent," Jordan said (7:10 mark). "It's not just a tiny, it's a huge piece. But I've compensated that feeling through NASCAR. But that urge to dream, that if I wish I can still pick up a basketball, I would love to do that. Believe me."

23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick has helped Jordan's team start the 2026 season on a high note, winning four of the first six Cup Series races of the year.

This included a Daytona 500 victory that led to a memorable celebration from the Basketball Hall of Famer.

Reddick racked up 325 points for his strong start heading into Sunday's action, holding a comfortable lead at No. 1 in the Cup Series standings.

As for Jordan, his signature competitiveness helped him win six championships and capture five MVP awards throughout his legendary NBA career. He also earned 14 All-Star nods in 15 seasons, still sitting at No. 6 on the league's all-time scoring list.
