Hubert Davis' Son Elijah Redacts UNC Name on Jersey in IG Photo After HC Fired
Elijah Davis may not hold fond memories of his one year at North Carolina after his father, Hubert Davis, was fired as Tar Heels head basketball coach on Tuesday.
The younger Davis posted an image on Instagram of him standing with his father on the court at the Dean Dome, but the jersey he's wearing is notably scrubbed of the North Carolina name.

"Right where we need to be. it's His plan and His plan only," Davis wrote in the caption.
Hubert's firing came five days after the Tar Heels lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to VCU. They blew a 19-point lead in that game and it marked their second consecutive first-round exit.
Elijah Davis joined North Carolina in June 2024 as a walk-on transfer after playing three seasons at Lynchburg in Division III. He redshirted in his first season with the Tar Heels.
The 23-year-old appeared in six games this season, scoring a total of three points in 10 minutes. He made his lone start on senior night against Clemson on March 3.
Hubert just finished his fifth season as North Carolina's head coach. The 55-year-old was Roy Williams' handpicked successor following his retirement in April 2021.
North Carolina reached the Final Four in Davis' first season and won the regular-season ACC title in 2023-24. He finished 125-54 overall with the Tar Heels.
