Jayson Tatum Injury Updates, Status for Celtics' Game 7 vs. 76ers in NBA Playoffs

Doric SamMay 2, 2026

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum will not be available for his team's win-or-go-home showdown with the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

According to the Celtics, Tatum has been downgraded to out for Game 7 after being listed as questionable with left knee stiffness earlier in the day.

"We made a decision for him," head coach Joe Mazzulla told reporters.

Appearing on Get Up on Friday morning, ESPN's Shams Charania said indications were "positive" regarding Tatum's status after he sat out the majority of the fourth quarter of Thursday's Game 6 loss after appearing to experience left leg discomfort.

"I'm told Jayson Tatum told some teammates after the game he's fine, he's good to go," Charania said.

"I expect to play," Tatum told reporters after Game 6. "It was my other leg, not the one I injured last year. I mean, I wasn't like overly concerned."

Tatum dealing with any sort of leg injury will sound some alarm bells for the Celtics after he tore his right Achilles tendon during last year's playoffs.

Tatum made a remarkable recovery from that injury and returned to Boston's lineup on March 6. Through six playoff games, he's averaged 22.3 points while playing 36.3 minutes a night.

The Celtics enter Saturday night as 4.5-point favorites (h/t FanDuel SportsBook) over the 76ers, who have already won two road games this series.
