Giannis Antetokounmpo may have played his last game as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The team announced Saturday that Giannis won't suit up for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Philadelphia 76ers He last played on March 15 against the Indiana Pacers.

Needless to say, Antetokounmpo has endured a tough and tumultuous 2025-26 season due to injuries.

He suffered a left groin strain that led to four missed games in November. He sat eight more games in December after sustaining a right calf strain against the Detroit Pistons. Another right calf strain against the Denver Nuggets kept the two-time NBA MVP out for 15 more games from late January to early March.

Then Antetokounmpo suffered a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise after landing awkwardly following a third quarter dunk during the Bucks' 134-123 win over the Pacers last month.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Antetokounmpo was expected to be re-evaluated in one week.

Charania then reported that the Bucks and Antetokounmpo were at odds over the remainder of his season. Milwaukee wanted him to shut it down, but Antetokounmpo wanted to keep playing after he recovered.

The NBA has since launched an investigation into Giannis' injury and how it's been handled by the Bucks.

"The NBA's Player Participation Policy investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo is ongoing and certain facts remain in dispute," an NBA spokesman said. "The investigation has found that the Bucks scheduled Giannis to work out last week in three-on-three scrimmages as part of his return-to-play process, but he declined to participate. There is a disagreement as to whether the team requested that Giannis participate in a group workout earlier this week, and the league is continuing to monitor the situation."

Antetokounmpo was previously the subject of heavy trade rumors throughout the season, to the point where ESPN's Shams Charania reported that he was "ready for a new home ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline."

That never happened, although questions remain about his future in Milwaukee, where he has played all 13 of his NBA seasons, entering the offseason.

He is a free agent after the 2026-27 season, and the Bucks have not build a contender around Antetokounmpo, to the point where Milwaukee has languished under .500 and outside the playoff picture more of the season.
