AJ Dybantsa Turned Down More Than Rumored $4-6M From Other Programs to Sign with BYU, HC Says
On Monday, college basketball fans learned that Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg turned down an NIL offer worth around "$7-9 million" from Kentucky before joining the Wolverines as a transfer. On Wednesday, we learned more about what superstar prospect AJ Dybantsa sacrificed to sign with BYU.
According to Christopher Kamrani and CJ Moore, "Reports of Dybantsa's single-year NIL compensation have oscillated from $4-6 million, believed to be among the top paydays for a player to date. While [BYU head coach Kevin Young] declined to identify the exact number, he said Dybantsa could've made more had he chosen to sign elsewhere with more storied programs."

BYU have benefitted greatly. Dybantsa is averaging 25.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game while leading the men's basketball team to a 23-11 record and berth in the NCAA tournament. He's made a strong case to be the first player off the board in June's NBA draft.
He's been worth every penny for BYU, though he reportedly gave up significant dollars to play for the Cougars.
