Texas Beats NC State in First Four to Advance in March Madness as Fans Eye AJ Dybantsa, BYU Matchup
Texas secured a spot in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Tuesday with a 68-66 win over NC State.
The Longhorns and Wolfpack played a wire-to-wire game that ended with a game-winning jump shot from Tramon Mark in the final seconds.
Texas will now get a matchup against No. 6 BYU, led by star freshman and widely projected No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa. While the Cougars are the higher seed, fans appear to be split on who will make it out of the first round.
The Cougars looked like a legit contender early this season, but exposed their flaws in conference play, losing 10 of their last 17 games after a 16-1 start.
It has been the opposite of last season, when BYU finished the season strong and ended up making a Sweet 16 run as a No. 6 seed.
While Dybantsa, the nation's leading scorer, is more than capable of putting the game in his hands and guiding BYU to a deep run, the Cougars will be on upset watch in the first round.
