Anthony Edwards' Timeline for Injury Return Updated by T-Wolves After Imaging on Knee

Julia StumbaughMar 17, 2026

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will be sidelined for at least a week with right knee inflammation, his team announced Tuesday.

The injury was revealed after Edwards underwent an MRI. He will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks, according to the Timberwolves.

The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski reported that Edwards' injury "is not considered serious," and that the Wolves are prioritizing having him healthy for a potential postseason run.

Edwards was listed as questionable on consecutive injury reports before he was designated out due to knee soreness ahead of Tuesday night's home game against the Phoenix Suns.

He is now set to miss at least four games, including the Wolves' midweek back-to-back against the Suns and Utah Jazz as well as a Friday home contest against the Portland Trail Blazers and Sunday road matchup with the Boston Celtics.

Should Edwards sit out two weeks with the injury, he would also miss upcoming games against the Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks.

He would also be ineligible for end-of-season awards, including the All-NBA teams, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Edwards has missed 11 games this season, with most of his previous absences taking place due to foot and toe injuries.

When available, he has averaged a career-high 29.5 points while adding 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

He most recently played 37 minutes in back-to-back nights while playing through knee soreness against the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, posting 42 points against the Warriors before he was held to 19 by the Thunder.

Edwards' absence comes at a crucial time for the Timberwolves, who are fighting to stay out of the play-in round over the last 14 games of the season.

The Wolves are currently two games ahead of the Suns for the No. 6 seed in the West, but Phoenix has two games in hand and could make up critical ground with a win Tuesday night.

Naz Reid is also listed as questionable with a right shoulder contusion ahead of Tuesday night's game.

The Wolves will hope to have Reid available as Julius Randle looks to take on a large offensive workload when Tuesday night's crucial conference matchup against the Suns tips off at 8 p.m. ET.
