Bobby Hurley Out as ASU HC After Historic Big 12 Tournament Loss, Exits Without 'Any Regrets'
Bobby Hurley is out as Arizona State's head coach after 11 seasons at the helm.
Per ESPN, the program will not renew his contract following a 91-42 blowout loss to Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament on Wednesday, the largest scoring margin in the event's history.
"I don't have any regrets," Hurley said after Wednesday's loss. "I laid it out all on the line to the best that I could every night. And I did it until the last buzzer sounded."

The loss to Iowa State was Hurley's largest margin of defeat since taking over as head coach in 2015. The Sun Devils finished the season 17-16 and went 185-167 during Hurley's time.
Hurley spent time as an assistant at Wagner and Rhode Island before getting his first head-coaching job at Buffalo in 2013. After leading the team to its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, he was named Arizona State's head coach, replacing Herb Sendek.
The Sun Devils missed the tournament in Hurley's first two seasons before making a First Four appearance in 2018, followed by a first-round exit in 2019. It marked the first time the team had gone to back-to-back tournaments since 1980 and 1981.
Arizona State went 20-11 during the 2019-20 campaign and likely would have made the tournament had it not been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Sun Devils have posted losing records in four of the last five seasons, with the only exception being the 2022-23 season when they went 23-13 before a first-round exit.
In a statement, athletic director Graham Rossini said the school is "grateful" for Hurley and his family.
"Bobby Hurley has made incredible contributions to the sport of basketball, and that certainly includes many memorable moments during his time as our Head Coach," Rossini said. "While we will not be extending his contract, we are so grateful for the 11 years that Coach, Leslie, Cameron, Sydney, and Bobby Jr. spent with us at ASU. We wish Coach well moving forward and we are thankful for his leadership while at ASU."
