Alvin Kamara, Saints Reportedly Agree to Restructured Contract amid NFL Rumors After Etienne Signing
Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints are finalizing a restructured contract to keep the running back with the team in 2026, according to NFL insider Terron Armstead and NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill.
Financial details of the restructured deal are not yet known.
Kamara's future came into question earlier this offseason after New Orleans signed Travis Etienne Jr. in free agency. Etienne agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract with the Saints on March 9. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported after the deal that people in the league were questioning what it meant for Kamara going forward.

However, head coach Kellen Moore indicated at the NFL league meetings in March that he was planning on having both Kamara and Etienne on the roster:
"He's certainly on the roster and part of that running back room. We feel like there's ways that you can manipulate all those guys and put them in plenty of situations. Look at our season last year, look at probably just about every NFL season— plenty of running backs play. We feel fortunate that we were able to acquire Travis in free agency, but there's still a lot of work to be had out there."
As it turns out, that appears to be the case.
Kamara has spent his entire NFL career in New Orleans. He has been one of the most versatile running backs in the league throughout his time with the Saints, but his future with the organization became a hot topic early in free agency.
Kamara also previously teased retirement last season when there were rumblings about the Saints looking to trade him.
Last season marked Kamara's first time not cracking 1,100 yards from scrimmage. He finished with 657 total yards and one touchdown, but also missed six games due to injuries.
He has averaged 805 rushing yards and 550 receiving yards per season in his career.
Even if some of the athleticism that made Kamara so dynamic early in his career has dissipated with age, he can be relied on as a runner and receiver to add a dynamic to New Orleans' offense.
