Duke's Cameron Boozer Named ACC Player of the Year, UNC's Caleb Wilson Among All-ACC First Team

Timothy RappMar 9, 2026

As very much expected, Duke superstar freshman Cameron Boozer was named both the ACC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year on Monday.

He joins North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson (19.8 ppg., 9.4 rpg), Stanford freshman Ebuka Okorie, Virginia freshman Thijs De Ridder and Miami senior Malik Reneau on the All-ACC First Team. It is the first time in its history the conference has had four freshmen on the All-ACC First Team.

Only twice in history have multiple freshmen cracked the conference's First Team (UNC's Antawn Jamison and Georgia Tech's Stephon Marbury in 1996; Duke's RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson in 2019).

Boozer took home 84 of the 86 first-place votes for the Player of the Year, with Okorie and De Ridder receiving one each. He received 82 of the 86 Rookie of the Year first-place votes, followed by Okorie with three and Wilson with one.

The only surprise might be that both awards weren't given to him unanimously.

Boozer, likely a top-three pick in June's NBA draft, averaged 22.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three. He ranks second in the ACC in both scoring and rebounding and is also a finalist for both the Naismith Award and Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award.

He's led Duke to a 29-2 record and the top overall ranking in the Associated Press Poll. The Blue Devils are among the favorites in the upcoming men's NCAA tournament.

As for the other awards, Duke senior Maliq Brown was named both the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year, making him the first player to ever claim both awards in a single season. His head coach, Jon Scheyer, was named the ACC Coach of the Year and Wake Forest's Juke Harris took home the ACC Most Improved Player award.
