Bobby Portis Talks Giannis Trade Rumors, Shares Confidence Level for Star's Return to Bucks in Video

Julia StumbaughMar 9, 2026

Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis admitted he's uncertain whether he'll still be playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo during the 2026-27 season.

Portis was asked to rate his level of belief that Antetokounmpo would be playing for the Bucks next season on a scale from one to 10 on a recent episode of FanDuel TV's Run It Back.

"I'm at a five, bro. I'm right there in the middle... for real, it's up in the air," Portis answered.

Portis continued, "It's going to be a super lingering thing all summer long, especially leading up into the draft. So, I guess we'll have to see, but I think it's right there at that five."

Antetokounmpo, who was recently sidelined for more than a month with a right calf strain, made his return on March 2 and played in three straight games before the Bucks sat him again for the second half of a back-to-back set on Sunday night.

He has sat out 30 games this season, the most single-season absences of his career, as the Bucks have struggled to a 27-36 record that has them sitting at No. 11 in the East.

Antetokounmpo has repeatedly expressed interest in finishing his career as a Buck, but has also made it clear he wants to be playing competitive basketball in the near future.

The Bucks are currently 4.0 games back of the Charlotte Hornets for the last play-in spot with 19 games remaining in the season.

If the Bucks are ultimately unable to make up that significant deficit and make a late postseason bid, it could impact what are expected to be more upcoming trade talks. After discussing potential trades ahead of the February deadline, both the Bucks and Antetokounmpo "are expected to reexamine a potential deal in the offseason," according to ESPN.

Portis, who is signed through 2026-27 with a player option for 2027-28, is currently set to remain in Milwaukee either way as the Bucks decide whether the franchise is retooling around Antetokounmpo or rebuilding with the return from a potential trade.
