McGregor later discussed theย UFC's choice to move on from the Chandler fight.
"I feel a bit weird," McGregor said, viaย Kyle Dimondย of Bloody Elbow. "He deserved a go and you know it would be a great fight. It makes sense, it's easy done. It gets me back in there but they veered off it."
Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje will headline the event in a lightweight unificationย fight instead. Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane are also set to face off for the interim heavyweight championship.
Meanwhile, Chandler will take on Mauricio Ruffy in a lightweight bout.
As for McGregor, he hasn't stepped in the Octagon since losing to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The 37-year-old holds a 22-6 record, although he's suffered three losses in his past four fights.
