Duke won the game with a short-handed roster. Caleb Foster had a boot on his foot after he suffered a first-half injury. Patrick Ngongba went through warmups, but did not play.
The Blue Devils received 15 points and nine rebounds from Maliq Brown, as well as 11 points from Isaiah Evans and 10 points from Dame Sarr.
North Carolina was only down by five points at halftime, but without Caleb Wilson, the Tar Heels didn't have the firepower to keep pace with the Blue Devils.
Duke and UNC could meet again on Friday night in the ACC tournament semifinals. Duke is the No. 1 seed, while UNC is the No. 4 seed.
