Micah Parsons Responds to Logan Paul's $1M Fight Challenge, 'Let Me Get Healthy First'
Green Bay Packers superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons is throwing his proverbial hat in the ring with regard to WWE Superstar and YouTuber Logan Paul's $1 million boxing match challenge.
Speaking this week on his Impaulsive podcast, Paul offered to wager $1 million in a boxing match against any NFL player, saying, "Not a single football player could beat me in a boxing match. ... I would throttle [Cleveland Browns pass-rusher and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year] Myles Garrett."
Paul followed up Friday in a post on X, claiming that no NFL player has expressed a willingness to put up $1 million of their own money, as all interested parties he has spoken to want to turn the fight into a big event in order to ensure they get paid regardless of the result:
In response to that post, Parsons wrote, "I got million just let me get healthy first!!"
Parsons wasn't the only NFL player seemingly willing to accept the challenge, with Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins calling out Paul.
"Come get your ass kicked," Dawkins told TMZ.
After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons was traded to the Packers last offseason, and he subsequently signed a four-year, $186 million contract extension with Green Bay.
The 26-year-old got off to an excellent start with 12.5 sacks in 14 games, but a torn ACL cut his season short.
Despite the injury, Parsons was named a Pro Bowler for the fifth time and First Team All-Pro for the third time, and he finished third in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Paul's interest in boxing an NFL player comes amid preparations for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, which will pit a Paul-led team against a team led by legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady on March 21.
During a recent appearance on Paul's Impaulsive podcast (h/t Boston.com's Khari A. Thompson), Brady was dismissive of pro wrestlers' athleticism compared to NFL players, saying, "It's cute. I love WWE. It's very cute. But, honestly, this is like real football, real competition."
That seemed to be the impetus for Paul's NFL boxing challenge, and he now has at least one big name on board in the form of Parsons, although he has to rehab his knee injury before it can even be considered.
If a fight does come to fruition against Parsons or another player, Paul figures to have the edge in boxing experience, as he has competed in multiple professional, amateur and exhibition boxing matches, including an exhibition clash with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2021.
