Trae Young Reacts to Ejection From Wizards Bench vs. Rockets in Video Ahead of Debut

Trae Young has zero minutes played as a member of the Washington Wizards.

But he has one ejection.

The guard was issued a technical foul and ejected from Monday's game against the Houston Rockets for "running on the court" from the Wizards' bench during an altercation.

He was quick to react to the ejection in a post on X:

Young was not the only one penalized for his role in the altercation. As Josh Robbins of The Athletic explained, Rockets forward Tari Eason was ejected because he was assessed two technical fouls with one of them coming because he shoved Washington's Jamir Watkins.

Watkins picked up one technical foul.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Tuesday that Young is not expected to face further discipline following his ejection.

Once the dust settled, Young's ejection was the most notable development given his status as a four-time All-Star and the reality he was kicked out of a game before he even took the court for his new team that acquired him via trade from the Atlanta Hawks.

While Young has been sidelined by MCL and quad injuries and hasn't played since he was a member of the Hawks on Dec. 27, he isn't far from debuting in Washington.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported the plan is for him to take the court for Thursday's home game against the Utah Jazz, and the guard also took to Instagram to post a video of himself training in Wizards gear with the caption "March 5."

Washington is nowhere near playoff contention at 16-43, but things may look better as soon as next season. After all, it traded for Young and Anthony Davis ahead of this season's deadline, and the pair could be quite the one-two punch in the Eastern Conference moving forward.

There likely wasn't much urgency to rush Young back as the team is just playing out the string and could find itself in better draft position with more losses, but he is likely anxious to take the court for his new team.

He just happened to take the court too early Monday, and it resulted in his ejection.
