Andrew PetersMar 1, 2026

A historic basketball card sold for a high price point on Sunday.

A 1997 Ultra Michael Jordan Masterpiece 1/1 PSA 8 was sold for $2.1 million at Heritage Auctions. The card was the first-ever one-of-one Jordan card and was the origin point of the modern one-of-one era.

While $2.1 million is nothing to scoff at, it's far from the highest price ever paid for a Jordan card.

That record belongs to an Upper Deck Exquisite Collection trading card featuring Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, which sold for $12.9 million in 2025. The card still holds the record for the highest ever paid for a sports card at a public auction.

The card sold on Sunday will likely only go up in value over time, but whether it will be record-breaking like the Jordan and Bryant card remains to be seen.
