
Joel Embiid Injury Update, New Timeline for Return to 76ers from Oblique Injury
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will miss approximately one more week as he continues to recover from an oblique strain, the team announced on Friday.
Injuries are frequently a concern with Embiid, including this season. He has missed time with knee issues, and the 76ers announced at the end of February he would be sidelined for at least three games because of the oblique strain.

The Kansas product played just 39 games in 2023-24 and 19 games in 2024-25. He has also appeared in just 33 games this season due to the multiple ailments.
When healthy, Embiid is still one of the better frontcourt players in the league.
His resume includes the 2022-23 MVP, two scoring titles, five All-NBA selections, three All-Defensive honors and seven All-Star nods, and he is averaging 26.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season.
If Philadelphia is going to be a realistic contender in the Eastern Conference playoffs, it will need Embiid healthy and on the floor even though other players such as Tyrese Maxey can carry the offense for stretches.
Look for the combination of Adem Bona and Andre Drummond to continue to see more playing time until Embiid is ready to return.
