Fernando Mendoza Reveals Wild Combine Question From NFL Team in New Video

Mike ChiariFeb 27, 2026

Over the years, players have divulged strange questions or comments they have received from NFL teams during pre-draft interviews at the Combine, and Indiana quarterback and presumptive No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft Fernando Mendoza is no exception.

Speaking Friday with CBS Sports, Mendoza revealed that a team told him, "Hey, maybe you should get arrested."

Mendoza noted that he was "a little confused" by the comment before clarifying that it was seemingly a joke about the team wanting him to slide to them in the draft.

Barring something unforeseen, all signs point toward Mendoza going first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2026 NFL draft due to their desperate need for a franchise quarterback.

Mendoza is coming off one of the best quarterback seasons in college football history, as he completed 72.0 percent of his passes for 3,535 yards, 41 touchdowns and six interceptions, while also rushing for 276 yards and even scores.

Additionally, Mendoza led the Hoosiers to a perfect 16-0 record and their first-ever national championship in football.
