Anthony Edwards Fined by NBA for Throwing Basketball into Stands During Wolves vs. Blazers

The NBA fined Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards $25,000 for throwing a game ball into the stands during a recent matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers, the league announced Thursday.

Edwards threw the ball into the crowd at halftime of Minnesota's 124-121 victory over Portland on Tuesday.

He finished the game with 34 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals while shooting 11-of-27 from the field.

Edwards has been fined for similar actions in the past, as the NBA handed him a $35,000 fine for failing to leave the court in a timely manner following an ejection and throwing a game ball into the spectator stands in March 2025.

The four-time All-Star faced discipline from the league throughout his 2024-25 campaign, racking up $430,000 in total fines for the season (h/t ESPN's Dave McMenamin).

A large portion of that sum came from technical fouls, as Edwards has picked them up fairly often as of late.

He's received nine technicals this season, ranking No. 5 among all players.

Still, Edwards has continued to serve as the leading scorer on a Timberwolves squad looking to go on another deep playoff run after advancing to the Western Conference Finals in each of the past two years.

He's averaging a career-high 29.6 points to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point territory.

Minnesota holds the No. 5 spot in the West standings with a 36-23 record.
