How Much Money Did Scotty Pippen Jr., Myron Gardner Lose for Fight on Viral Video in Grizzlies-Heat?

Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. and Miami Heat forward Myron Gardner avoided suspensions after getting into an altercation near the end of Miami's 136-120 home win on Saturday.

Both were given technicals and ejected, and now the NBA has revealed that each player has been fined $35,000.

The start of the sequence seemed to happen on the play before. Pippen and Gardner were fighting for a defensive rebound after a missed Simone Fontecchio three-point shot. Gardner put his shoulder into Pippen's shoulder/forearm, and Pippen took his right arm to toss Gardner out of the way. Gardner ended up on the baseline under the basket on his backside.

The Grizzlies then got out into transition with numbers. Pippen shot (and made) a three-pointer with just over two minutes left in the game. As the ball was going in (about two seconds after the initial attempt), Gardner jogged into Pippen and knocked him down from behind.

It appeared to be a very clear foul, but one wasn't called. Pippen then took matters into his own hands, jogging down the court, pointing at Gardner and shoving him out of bounds in the far corner and in the periphery of the stands.

A host of players (on the court) and coaches rushed to break them up and keep the peace. Eventually, the two were separated and ejected, and the game continued without further incident.

Pippen is in his fourth NBA season and has posted 10.1 points and 4.2 assists. He's played just four games this year (one start) after undergoing successful surgery on his left big toe. Pippen has averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 dimes this year.

Gardner is an undrafted rookie who has averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game over 28 contests (four starts). He played G League ball for the Osceola Magic for a few years and is now on a two-way contract with Miami.
