Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton Diagnosed With Shingles Amid Injury Rehab, Recovery Timeline Revealed

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is out for the entire 2025-26 season as he recovers from the Achilles injury he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, but he will also be away from the team for the foreseeable future after being diagnosed with shingles.

Head coach Rick Carlisle revealed as much Sunday and said Haliburton will be away for two to three weeks, per Shakeia Taylor of The Athletic.

While Haliburton has been sidelined, he has been attending Indiana's games in what Taylor described as a "player-coach" role.

"He will likely make a full recovery. This happened over the last few days. He was meeting us in D.C. and had some odd symptoms," Carlisle said. "It's a unique case, a unique situation. I've talked to him a few times, and he's always in a good mood, so he'll get through it. But trying to survive at a high level without a guy like that is extremely difficult."

Everything is building toward next season for the Pacers with Haliburton out.

They are 15-42 on the campaign, which is last place in the Eastern Conference. However, next season could be different since they traded for Ivica Zubac to bolster the frontcourt, will have Haliburton back running the show at point guard and can rely on Pascal Siakam on the wing.

Throw in a potential top-four draft pick based on this season's results, and Indiana could be on the short list for NBA Finals contenders in the Eastern Conference next season.

For now, though, the team's star player will be away from his supporting role on the bench after the latest diagnosis.
