Lakers Planning Steep Ticket Price Increases For 2026-27 NBA Season, Cite Market and Demand

The Los Angeles Lakers' change in ownership is apparently coming with a spike in ticket prices next season.

The Lakers confirmed to ESPN's Dave McMenamin on Saturday, about fourth months after the franchise's sale to Mark Walter, that ticket prices will change ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

"We are adjusting season ticket pricing for next season. The updates reflect the current market landscape and demand," the Lakers' statement read.

McMenamin reported that price changes were announced to Lakers season ticket holders in an email from president of business operations Tim Harris.

Harris' email named Luka Dončić, LeBron James, Austin Reaves and JJ Redick as reasons the Lakers are "at the forefront of sports," per McMenamin.

It has not yet been confirmed if James, who is playing on an expiring contract, or Reaves, who has a player option for next season, will be back in Los Angeles for the 2026-27 campaign.

According to McMenamin, one Lakers season ticket holder with 300 level seats told ESPN the cost of his seats had increased from $6,192 to $9,035, a 45.9 percent price jump.

Last offseason, that same ticket holder saw an increase from $5,494 to $6,192, an increase of 12.7 percent, per McMenamin.

Sirius XM NBA's Rob Perez posted Saturday on X that his own season tickets had been increased by 14 percent, and that there was a new three percent fee for using a payment plan.

The price changes come ahead of the departure of Harris, who the Lakers recently announced will step down at the end of the season.

Harris will be replaced by longtime Los Angeles Dodgers executive Lon Rosen, who is credited by the MLB club with helping the Dodgers regularly lead the sport in attendance.

The Lakers have drawn an average crowd of 18,877 fans this season, which is ranked 10th in the NBA by Basketball Reference and sits just below the home arena's official capacity of 18,910.
