New Anthony Davis, Trae Young Injury Updates After Wizards' NBA Trade Deadline Moves

The Washington Wizards provided injury updates for recent trade acquisitions Anthony Davis and Trae Young on Thursday.

The Wizards revealed that Davis has not been cleared for basketball activities while managing ligament damage in his left hand and will be reevaluated in two weeks, via NBA insider Marc Stein. Young is also dealing with an MCL sprain and will miss at least one more week.

Davis initially suffered the hand injury as a member of the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 8 and hasn't played since. He was eventually dealt to Washington as part of an eight-player trade on Feb. 4.

As for Young, he hasn't suited up in a contest with the Wizards since they acquired him in a swap with the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 8.

It's understandable that Washington is choosing to take a cautious approach regarding the health of both players, as the team owns the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 14-39.

ESPN's Tim Bontemps previously reported "the expectation among sources is that Davis and Young will play very little, if at all, the remainder of the season as the Wizards chase lottery luck, and that both stars will get long-term deals this summer."

With Davis and Young sidelined, Washington will continue relying on contributions from young players including Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson and Bub Carrington.
