Cooper Flagg's Rookie Debut Game-Worn Jersey Sells for World Record Price at Auction

Cooper Flagg seems well on his way to NBA superstardom, and collectors have taken note.

Sotheby's announced Thursday it sold his Dallas Mavericks Rookie Debut Game-Worn Association Edition Jersey for $1 million earlier this month. The price marked a publicly recorded record price for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions.

It was also a record price for any Flagg collectible to this point.

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NBA draft wore the jersey during the first half of Dallas' season opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 22. It was the first regular-season jersey he wore in his NBA career, and he wasted little time making an impression in it.

The Duke product notched a double-double in his first career game with 10 points, 10 rebounds and one steal in a sign of what was to come.

While the Mavericks lost the game in front of the home fans, Flagg was a bright spot in his debut.

All the rookie has done since is average 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks a night while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from deep. Dallas has struggled at 19-35 overall, but it has a foundational cornerstone in Flagg who looks more than comfortable against NBA competition.

Kyrie Irving has been injured all season, and Anthony Davis is no longer on the team after the Mavericks traded him to the Washington Wizards. Opposing defenses have been primarily focused on Flagg every time they face Dallas as a result, but he is still putting up those numbers.

He has been even better of late with more than 30 points in four of his last six contests, including when he poured in a career-high 49 points against the Charlotte Hornets.

Flagg's jersey was a record-setting headliner, but it is far from the only rookie debut jersey Sotheby's will sell this season.

Its NBA Rookie Debut Auction will run from March 17-23 and include the first game-worn jerseys from rookies such as V. J. Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, Dylan Harper, and Derik Queen, among others.
